  • Website Import & Setup Guide

Thank you for downloading your website from Free WP Sites 🎉
This guide will walk you through how to import, set up, and customize your website in minutes.

Before you start (Requirements)

Make sure you have:

  • A domain name (e.g. yoursite.com)
  • Hosting with WordPress installed
  • WordPress admin access (yoursite.com/wp-admin)

Recommended Hosting Settings

To avoid import errors, ensure your hosting supports:

  • PHP 7.4 or higher
  • Memory Limit: 256MB+
  • Upload Size: 512MB+
  • Execution Time: 300 seconds

👉 If unsure, contact your hosting provider.

  • Step 1 — Install Required Plugin
  • Login to your WordPress dashboard
  • Go to Plugins → Add New
  • Search for: All-in-One WP Migration
  • Click Install → Activate
  • Step 2 — Import Your Website
  • Go to:
    All-in-One WP Migration → Import
  • Click: Import From → File
  • Upload the .wpress file you downloaded
  • Wait for upload to complete
  • When prompted:
    👉 Click “Proceed” (this will overwrite your current site)

Important:

  • Do NOT close the tab during import
  • Import may take 2–10 minutes depending on file size
  • Step 3 — Login After Import

After import completes:

  • Your site will reload
  • Login using the credentials provided with your download

👉 Example:

  • Username: admin
  • Password: (provided to you)
  • Step 4 — Save Permalinks (VERY IMPORTANT)

After import completes:

  • Your site will reload
  • Login using the credentials provided with your download

👉 Example:

  • Username: admin
  • Password: (provided to you)
  • Step 5 — Start Customizing Your Website

Now your website is fully imported 🎉

You can customize:

✏️ Edit Pages

  1. Go to Pages → All Pages
  2. Click Edit or Edit with Elementor

You can:

  • Change text
  • Replace images
  • Add/remove sections

🖼️ Change Images

  • Click on any image → Replace with your own
  • Upload from your computer

🏷️ Update Logo

  1. Go to Appearance → Customize → Site Identity
  2. Upload your logo
  3. Click Publish

📋 Edit Menu

  1. Go to Appearance → Menus
  2. Add/remove pages
  3. Click Save Menu

🌐 Change Site Title & Tagline

Go to:
Settings → General

  • Step 6 — Install / Update Plugins

Some features may require plugins.

Go to:
Plugins → Installed Plugins

👉 Install or activate any required plugins listed

  • Step 7 — Set Up Contact Forms

If your site has forms:

  1. Go to your form plugin (e.g. WPForms)
  2. Update email address
  3. Save changes

👉 This ensures you receive messages

  • Step 8 — Optimize Your Website

For best performance:

  • Install a caching plugin
  • Compress images
  • Use fast hosting
  • Common Issues & Fixes

❌ Import Fails / Stuck

👉 Fix:

  • Increase upload limit
  • Contact hosting support
  • Or use plugin extension for large files

❌ Images Not Showing

👉 Fix:

  • Go to Settings → Permalinks → Save
  • Clear cache

❌ Login Not Working

👉 Fix:

  • Use credentials provided
  • Login through hosting admin page
  • Clear browser cache

❌ Styling Looks Broken

👉 Fix:

  • Go to Elementor → Tools → Regenerate CSS
  • Clear cache

After setup:

  • Change admin password
  • Install a security plugin
  • Keep WordPress & plugins updated
